ZZ4 where to you get a measurement of 8 inches wider? Working in a salvage yard for the last 8 years and in the new parts stores for 15 years before that I think your measuring device is being read wrong! You see the 4x4 rears from 82-99 are the same with and the 2 wheelrs are the same width. You can bolt either rear in to a 2 wheeler with the rite wheel. If you use a 4x4 rear in a 2 wheeler you can use wheels that are meant for an 92-95 up Camaro/firebird on the rear. Thay only draw back to that combo is that you have to use spacers to make the wheels fit on the front.
4 wheel discs can be put on 92 up s-truck rears if you can find the caliper mounting brackets and rotors from an 82-92 Camaro/Firebird. If the e-brake is not a concern use 2 left front calipers from an 82-91 s-truck and notch the bracket in 3 places and they bolt rite on. Turn the axles down to fit the rotors and use front brake hoses from the s-10 and you have discs.
Posi units from 82-92 10 bolt Camaro/Firebird were for the most part 7 5/8 and bolt rite in,check the splines on the axles.
Been there done all of the above.

I meant to say that the 4x4 rears are 2" wider than the 4x2 as i once sold one to a punk kid that said he wanted the 4x4 rear so that the wheels would stick out! And boy howdy did they.

A normal 4x4 axles is 4" longer overall. Its 2" longer on each side. Thats why the 4x4 rims have 2" more backspacing than 2wd rims, cause its 2" longer from the center. Therefore, they move the wheels 2" towards the frame to keep them tucking. A 4x4 rear end and a 2x4 rear end are not the same length. Either will bolt into a 2wd s-series like I said. NOW, the ZR2 offroad package for the 2nd gen trucks, has a different rear end. That rear end is 4" wider than a a normal 4x4 rear end, which would mean that its 8" wider than a 2wd rear. The JTR book says that this rear end will not bolt into a 1st gen s-series. I'm guessing that technically it will bolt up. But I don't think that with the rear being so wide, you would be able to get any rims to tuck into the wheel wells. So...
2wd rear
4x4 rear is 4" longer
ZR2 rear is 4" longer than 4x4, 8 than 2wd
For rear discs, 4th gen+ f-body discs bolt up with no problems. Just bolt on the mounting brackets, bend up some brake lines, and go.

Being that the front wheels stick out 2 inches farther on each side versus the rear wheels on a 4X4 if you use the same offset rims on all 4, it would be nice to have a ZR2 rear end on a 4X4 Blazer so you could buy 4 rims all the same offset and be able to rotate them evenly. No, they probally won't tuck in the back, but the only rims that will tuck in the front are 3.5x15" drag wheels. Any set of GM FWD rims would look nice on a ZR2 equiped 4X4Blazer; Pontiac 16" chrome stars off a Grand Am or Grand Prix, New Z-24 Cavilier alluminum 16's, Cadillac rims, ect. I've seen some sweet 20's on Bonevilles so I know they're out there! If you like that flush face look. I prefer a deep dish high offset rim, but I am stuck cuz I have a 4X4!

Wheel from a 92 up Camaro/Firebird and some Corvettes have the proper offset for the 4x4 without any spacers. Check
SLP for some ;atemodel wheels with tires mounted. They will
also tell you that these wheels will only fit 4x4s. I bleave some of those cars came with 17s so don't give up hope on your search for wheels.

The Syclones and Typhoons had a different backspacing for the front and rear rims so they sat evenly. I had the IROC rims on mine with the FRONT marked rim on the rear and vice-versa so they stuck out, but at least it was evenly. And I was wrong about my list. Only Cameros and Vettes fit the 4 3/4" on 5. All the other FWD cars are a 4 1/2" on 5. They would work if you bored out the holes a little and used the Craiger universal washers. They're shaped like an oval.
