You know what I just figured out, correct me if I am wrong or bash me if I was just an idiot before, but the 190 horsepower that everyone thinks these 4.3ls have stock, is really like 148 rear wheel and 190 fly. What's up with that. Am I the only one that didn't know about this? Every place that dynoed this engine came up with around 148-170. Anybody know about this?

that is correct. You will lose power once you start to transfer power through any gear box. An auto is really bad since the TC is nothing more than a fuild pump. The car makers claim the flywheel hp's so that it looks bigger.

Yes, typically you will loose 15-20% of your hp from the flywheel to the rear wheels. 20% of 190 is 152 hp. Close to your 148 run. I use that as a rule of thumb to estimate rwhp for my stuff.
