I don't know if this has been touched on or not but I was looking at my V8 today and thought to myself it would be too much of a pain to retrofit a york in there without hacking even more shit up and killing the look. So the Oasis Trailhead (http://www.rockcrawler.com/features/newsshorts/02january/oasis_compressor.asp) compressor came to mind. Basically the Oasis is an engine driven York compressor mated to a 12v electrical motor. Since a nifty little Oasis is in the $700 range, (www.stylinconcepts.com/parts.cfm/partfamilyid/1131/lc/pfbi/BrandID/353/Brand/Oasis) and way out of mine, I thought about getting my hands on a 12V motor, similar in shape to the ones that evaporative coolers use ( http://www.thompsons-online.co.uk/acatalog/bosh%20motor.jpg ) and instead of directly coupling it, attaching a V-belt pulley to the 12v motor and putting them side by side like the attached picture. That way, the pressure switch would trigger the motor on and once the york does its job, the pressure swich shuts off the motor. The only challenge I see is finding the 12V motor suitable for the job. This is where bigjsp can jump in and save the day :D . What are your all's opinions?

Thats a damn good idea. :bigthumb: But you need to make sure that the motor you choose does not suck all the life out of your electrical system.

Here's a pic of it done in a Ford Tauras:

The shop that did it is Barely Legal Welding and Fabrication in Bay City Michigan. Their website is www.barelylegalfabrication.com (http://www.barelylegalfabrication.com)

It uses a winch motor to spin the compressor pully @ over 4,000 rpms... fills 25 gallons to 250psi in under 2 min.

You are going to have to adapt somelike a winchmotor or starter

the few commercial DC motors I found at 12 volts were 1/3 HP.

Ill look again when I have more time because I may be following your lead. Dad can't find that Caddy compressor.
