    350 with 4.3 tranny

can u use the 4.3 tranny with a 350?i also have 4x4 but i want to take it off. i think the front uv joints are shot.also are there any awd systems that u can change between awd and 2wd?
one more thing, if i took all my 4x4 shit off would i be able to use drop spindles for the front like a 2wd?i know i can lowerer it with changing the keys on the torsion bar but then its just lowered and not stiffened, right?, i dont want to bottom out.
    sorry for all the q's.

I know that you can use a 350 tranny behind a 4.3 so i dont see why you cant use a 4.3 tranny behind a 350 but it may not last very long at all depending on how stout your motor is and how much you get on it. I dont think they make an awd system that you can take out of awd. I think that is why they make it. If i had a 4wd blazer i would go and buy the transfer case from a bravada and install it that way i had awd for a better launch.

if you take the 4wd drive out you still cant use spindles whole different setup going on up front bro. you'll have to do a whole lot of work to get that 2wd setup.

u cn use the 4.3 tranny.. it might feel a littel wierd though.. i believe the only difference is in teh converter and it lacks a few clutcehs that the v8 trannies have.. if u jsut don;t hook teh 4wd up it doesn;t matter.. teh whole fornt suspension is completely different then a 2wd... u'd have to swap frames or graft on a 2wd front clip... big pain in teh ass.. cheaper and easier to sell and buy a 2wd truck

You can swap your 4x4 stuff out for an AWD system. That stuff will bolt rght up. You can't make it 2wd without a ton of mods. If you 4x4 stuff is still good, its not worth the cash to swap to awd. But, your 4.3 tranny and t case will bolt right up.

ok if i use the 4.3 tranny will i have to move it to fit the 350 in or will there be enough room?what im really asking is will i have to shorten my driveshaft if i stick with the stock tranny?what about 350turbo?i might go stick too and manual trans are shorter than auto right?so would i have to then lengthen the driveshaft?

ur not supposed to go faster than 35 mph in 4x4 right?is that just because the uv joints cant handle it?or cant the transfer case take it?if its just the joints then would i be able to get away with just cv joints?then i could switch between the two and smoke the rear wheels off.

Who told you that? You can drive around all the time, at any speed with your 4x4 in high gear.

The JTR book has a 4x4 blazer chained to a 2 ton dually smoking all 4

You can leave you tranny in the same spot, but you will probably have to move the radiator forward. Fan and water pump clearance are common problems. Its a kinda wait and see clearance kinda thing.

There is a big difference between AWD and 4x4.

Thats why I said its not really worth the swap, unless your really looking for an all out performance vehicle. Unless you already have the awd stuff, just keep your stockers.
