    you can call it a stroked 283 or a destroked 302 either way its junk.

    my friend had one come factory in his 71 or 72 nova

    Bore and stroke for Chev small blocks

    ENGINE...BORE... STROKE ....YEARS
    262........3.671" x 3.10" ...(1975-76 Monza)
    265........3.750" x 3.00" ...(1955-57)
    267........3.500" x 3.48" ...(1979-82)
    283........3.875" x 3.00" ...(1957-68)
    302........4.000" x 3.00" ...(1967-69)
    305........3.740" x 3.48" ...(80's)
    307........3.875" x 3.25" ...(1968-73)
    327........4.000" x 3.25" ...(1962-69)
    346........3.900" x 3.62" ...('97-up, LS1")
    350........4.000" x 3.48" ...(1967-up)
    350........3.900" x 3.66" ...('89-'95, LT5)
    364........4.000" x 3.62" ...('99-up, 6.0 Liter Vortec)
    400........4.125" x 3.75" ...(1974-80)

    Two common, non-factory small blocks:
    377 = 4.155" x 3.48" (400 block with a 350 crank)
    383 = 4.030" x 3.76" (350 block with a 400 crank)

    OK, now do the math:
    a 5.0L in a Chevy is a 305" or 302" in a Ford.
    a 5.7L Chev is a 350"
    This would make a 5.2L a 317.2" ( :rolleyes: )
