Just yank the cover off. Good reason to change the gear oil too.

teeth numbers should be stamped into the ring gear. Just divide the 2.

Turning the pinion should always turn both wheels. An open rear end will usually spin the tires in opposite ways, posi usually both in the same direction.

Thats not always true though. Pull the cover.

The codes are probably different, but I'm not 100% sure about that. You might try calling the dealership on that. Or try a online forum board. They will be able to tell you.

Are you sure about the wheel directions? The 89 blazer i got my rear end out of if you turn it they turn opposite ways.. but if you turn the 91 truck rear i have, only 1 wheel will spin.. so are they BOTH open diffirentials?

My Bravada has a G80. Would the front be the same since its AWD?

My brother wanted my rearend because it has disc brakes and his S10 has drum brakes. Would the ZQ8 factory rear traction package (extra shock) fit the Bravada axle?

Well, I pulled a GQ1 GU4 code so that's an open diff with 3.08 gears. Guess it's time to start looking for a 3.73 to go in it now.

Yes, I have to agree. Although it does get down the road at about 65-70MPH humming at 1800RPM's or so.

I wrote down the rear diff codes, then went out to compare them to my RPO sticker in my glove box. None of those codes show up on my RPO sticker other then the G80 code. I double and triple checked my sticker. The only "g" codes I have are GMC and G80.... so now what do I do?

call the dealership and give them your vin

becuase judging by your sig you do not have a GMC so you should not have a GMC rpo code.

some one might have switched dashes on you.
