if you spend about 10 grand for a new engine and turbo you could get in the 14-15 sec 1/4 mile range

    Are you on drugs????

I have about $2500 in my engine and I am knocking on the door to 12's.

In all seriousness though. You can get a PP3 and header and catback exhaust and cold air intake. There are some swaps like the 2.4 swap with a turbo or s/c but it's only good for about 200-240hp. You need to look at value in terms of dollars per HP gained.

Yea, consider building up the 2.2 a ricer's forte. Most everybody on this board is a fan of V8's, and knows v8s by heart.

If you want to build up your 2.2, try to get some ideas from Humble Performance (http://www.humbleperformance.com/forum/index.php) or another import fanbase.

I, personally, hate anything with less than 6 cylinders...

But, he asked about building up a 4cyl, not a V8. I am a fan of the V8 swap too, don't get me wrong. Do you want to know how fast you can make it or how quick? Building power out of a 2.2 is not going to be easy. You are only working with about 135 cubic inches. A good running mild performance motor can make about 1HP per cubic inch. So that leaves you with about 135 HP. A stock 2.8 6cyl makes that much, and it is still weak. To get any more out of that motor, you are going to be looking at cubic $$$. Yeah, it would be different, but who cares when you just got your ass kicked by a stock 2.8 or 4.3 blazer? It's your choice, but poeple do (and recomend) motor swaps for a reason. You asked how fast you could make it. I have a 2.8 blazer that tops out at about 95mph, and MIGHT pull a 20 second flat in the 1/4 mile, with the kind of power output you might get from a hopped up 2.2L.

Did I say he was going to build up a v8? No. I pointed him Humble's direction BECAUSE HE WASN'T building a v8.

Now, if you can show me where I said he was building a v8...

getting awefully defensive there. was I talking to you? No. was I talking about you? No. Did I quote you? No. I believe Knudsomm does have a V8, and stated that he was knocking on the 12's. I wasn't disin' anyone.

i'd rather "rice" a turbo 4 cyl than spend any money on a 2.8 or even a 4.3.
