    Question perfect size tires?

Hey guys anybody out there running 17's , if so what size tires are you running. I've currently got 235-40's all around and and the front tires are rubbing on sharp turns. I almost cut a tire, thanks goodness for noticing while changing spark plugs! Anyhow i would like to go meater this time around, like a 45 series and wider in the back. Don't have a clue about the front i have a small spacer on it but it still rubs when fully turned. Made a mistake and didn't get any backspacing on it. Since i've got regular 17x8's can i go wide outwards or does that mean i'll go inwards? Somebody help got to get tires this weekend!!!!

    perfect size tires

Noma, man that's a real sweet ride. I guess my problem is that my 17's don't have any back spacing, but i have a 1/4 inch wheel spacer on it i guess. But it rubs the inside only when i turn to the wheel to the max. Will going to a 225 17 cure it? i have 235 17's right now.

Is your ride a 4x4 or a 2wd? Also what kind of rims are they?

If you go with a 225/40/17 it will reduce the rubbing but probably not fix it. The only way to fix it is to get the proper offset/backspacing when you order rims. If you go with a 225/45/17 it will actually be taller and probably more prone to rubbing.

no backspacing. if you can do me a favor. measure from the mounting face to the back of the rim then we can go from there

now are you rubbing on the fenderlip at all or just on the inside frame at full lock. because there are no offsets where the rim should hit the fenderlip. but if you have the 17x8 5 inch bs or 5.5 its going to rub really really bad.

i backed this up by looking at the specs on the rims cause ive had few customers with 5.0 bs and it was bad.

the 17x8 eagles in a s10 lug pattern are in these specs
    17x8 Polished 5 on 4.75 0 mm 4.50
    17x8 Polished 5 on 4.75 +14 mm 5.00
    17x8 Polished 5 on 4.75 +27 mm 5.50

    perfect size tires

Hey Noma, I checked the wheels and i have the 5.5's. But the rubbing is on the inside only at full lock. Got to get tires this weekend got any suggestions? Like i said i want to go bigger this time. Say like a 45's series, don't know how wide. I've seen people run 45's up front and a 245 or 255-40 in the back but looks the same. I think im just sol? right??? ( the front tires rubbing)

Or get adapters instead of spacers. But then you'll have to measure carefully to make sure you can still tuck if need be. And unless you have rims with a recessed area for the studs, you'll need at least a 1.5 inch adapter.
