All brands of synthetic oil is new, not recycled like regular conventional oil is. You said they were the same and that is why I disagreed with. Plus, I disagree about them cleaning the internals of the motor. But everyone has there opinion.

Then, why does General Motors put Modil 1 synthetic oil in all the new vettes that come off the assembly line? I've seen in person, a GM engineer pull a new vette off the line and take it down the track that is behind the vette plant.

By the way....all these vettes have less a three miles on them and there using the Modil 1 synthetic oil.

    6000 miles?????????

Its on a sticker on the car when it leaves the assembly line. This sticker says Modil 1 synthetic oil.

Part of the biggest reason for new vettes having synthetic is that during development of the LS1 they were having oil foaming and drainback problems in the crankcase and synthetics was a quick high tech solution for their new tech tech motor.

The way the head bolts connect way down inside the block into the block webbing which also keeps the distortion of the cylinder to a minimum as compared to conventional smaller length bolts forces.

I believe the 6000 mile rule is more for the rings and possibly non roller cams than the bearings in conventional SBCs

Pull the bottom drain plug out and drian the fliud out. Once the fliud is drained out. Put the plug back in. Then pull the plug that is higher than the drain plug and start filling the tranny with fliud. Once the fliud starts to come out of that hole, stop and then put the plug back in. Simple as that.

best way to change trans. oil if you don't know how is to bring it down the road to jiffy lube and pay them 20 bucks to do it....or look for a couple of plugs on the side of the trans. bottom plug is to drain it, and when its drained, fill it up to the top hole ( make sure top plug is out or it won't drain.
