    how much can 4.3 push?

I was just wondering how much power could a 4.3 handle without going too extreme (like boring cylinders out and stuff like that)... Because some guy asked truckin what he could do to his 4.3 and they said it will never push anywhere near 300 nomatter what he did to it... but if im not mistaken 4.3's push almost 200 stock... and im sure if you can add 100 horses to a 4 banger, you can add just as much to a v6... what do you all think???

It can handle as much as you want it too...just depends on how much $$ you have.

just some thought. A Typhoon is rated at 285hp at the flywheel from the factory... They have different pistons and crank, but you can get some more out of them before you need to forge everything.

i think the weakest part of a 4.3 is the crank.i remember seeing a billet(sp) crank. it was 2250.00, but getting 300 out of a 4.3. it can be done

so ok... not any time soon, but in the future i would like to add some power to mine... but its 95 so its the older version of it... what could i do to it to get about 300-350 out of it??? and would i need to swap it for a later model engine? because i cannot find like anything for 94-95... everything is made for 96+

    300HP??

I have the TBI 4.3 with like every external mod you can name and I have another bone stock and my friggin 4.3 is FAST. The only internal mod until it blows is going to be roller rockers when I get a chance! Never dyno'd it but bet its damn close......... Good gearing and snap shifting automatics give a little horsepower motors at low end a good powerful feeling. Just like a manual!
Here are the major mods to my truck!

AND NO TVs OR AIR!

what are some things you can do to stiffen up your shifting in a tranny, besides trick shift tranny oil? like could u get one of those electronic b&m shift improvers, are those good? what all did u do to your "quick" 4.3?

bmxr4life87- the b&m shift kits are easy to install you could do it in your driveway in just a few hours with just a few hand tools and a drill. They are very helpful (I do trans rebuilds after hrs).

As for how much a 4.3 can push, It pushes my 3000lb blazer down the 1320 with sticky T's at 14.9@92mph. (at lacr, palmdale ca)

Here is a pic of the eng bay
