How Much Does A Gen 1 2wd Blazer Weigh?

I was just curious how much gen 1 2wd drive blazers weigh, 2.8 4.3 doesnt make a difference. Also the end gears on a 86 2wd 2.8 3.73 right? Because I haven't replaced the rear gears yet, I have a feeling If I hope the damn thing they are going to rip to pieces. I don't think my one wheel wonder likes 375 hp. I was considering putting in a ford 9 incher, Ford :( I've heard that the Grand national or buick T Type rear ends would do just fine. I don't know, Throw me some info.

I got my blazer weighed, it was 3250 lbs. with the v8 and a system in it...

As far as your gears, look in the glove box at the sticker with all the codes, what are all the codes that start with "G"

Pretty much any rear you get, youll have to get it cut down to size. Im on my 4th stock rear, i blew all them up, pretty bad too...
you can get them cut down for about 200, plus axles if you cant re-spline them....

    2800? that's IT?
so that means the 4.3 auto must be somewhere around 3200 or so?
I thought it would be closer to 3800 or so...

Yea, I always thought blazers were close to 4000, but the scale doesnt lie..

I went to a place that sells brick and sand, they weigh your car before you go shopping, and after with the everything you bought loaded up, and the difference is what they charge you - so i just pretended i was gonna buy something, got my blazer weighed empty, and left!!:D

yeah the 4x4 blazers weigh closer to 4000, about 3800 or so. They have alot more parts on them. The transfer case is the most part.

    Exclamation Just Think...

when you run a quarter mile you are projecting 3250 pounds of metal (and yourself) down the track in 14 seconds or less. That kinda blows my mind... But thats why i like V8 s10's:cool:

My truck tips the scales at 3580 with a half tank of gas and my stereo equipment. The system probably weighs about 50-60 lbs, and I have a 350 in it with aluminum heads, a 700R4 trans, stock 3.73 rear end. Running the quarter in low 14s at around 95 mph, spinning my ass off and wheel hopping along. Can't fit any traction bars cause my truck is sitting too low...

my 85 blazer weighs in at 3525 (me not in) theres alot of suspension there for the size of the truck, its a 355 sb, no air.most blazers that came with the 700 r4 are equiped with 3.73, if the dash sticker reads G80 you know you have govenor style posi., any rear end like a camaro, grand prix, gnx will work fine, they are a slight upgrade because in most cases they are a 7 5\8 rear.instead of 7 1\2
