no im answering your questions because i myself have thought about this since ive owned my truck..3 years now...and ive done all the research..THATS WHY ive almost got enough to get my bags, and i PLAN on bagging my truck before the summer, since my warranty is now over..and i have the funds to do what i need, and i plan on removing the transfer case..im only trying to help you out..becuase i too was asking the same questions u are when i first joined here 3 years ago

but ya know my bad, i guess i misunderstood the point of this site, thought it was to help other people out and voice your opinion of ideas too, didnt know this site was about my answers not meeting your expectations werent good enough

here are the reasons not to remove the transfer case
    1. it is not in the way of anything at all
    2. it is a lot of extra work
    3. buying a 2wd tranny is expensive

i pulled all my 4x4 stuff out. i removed the half shalfts transfer case and front drive shaft. if your thinkin about pullin the 4x4 stuff pull the transfer case that would be a good 30lbs of dead weight.

i would remove mine to if i took everything out ....less weight, less shit u dont need and less shit that may take a few hps away from the truck , now my ? to you guys do you have to change the whole tranny or just the tail shaft on the tranny? to go to 2wd
