    Arrow Gas Mileage

    I have a problem with my 2.8..

Im only getting like 100 miles for 3/4 of tank of gas....
its a 4x4 but i highly doubt that it should be eating that much gas..My dads v8 gets way better mileage... If any one can help me out on why my small wimpy 2.8 is eating gas like crazy.. let me know because i would appreciate it!

Mine does it too. I think it might have something to do with the fact that you have to FLOOR it to keep up to highway speed. What a rip-off. Less power, same mileage.

Yeah the o2 sensor should be right next to your exhaust manifold. I don't know if that would do it. It just really checks the emissions comming out of your engine. If you run rich for a long time it will screw it up and the sensor will send incorrect readings to your motor, which may or may not be your problem...

I dont really know for sure thou.....

    Rejet that carb.

    The O2 sensor

Yes, it's the O2 sensor. I was told by a mechanic that that was the problem, BUT if it's been out for a while, you could have problems with other things when it's replaced. So I have neglected to do that for months. Shit, mines not even connected!

Well i have no idea where this 02 sensor is??? i looked in my manual everywhere too. I'm just gonna spray some carb cleaner, maybe that will work.

Slim you got to tell em when this 02 sensor thing is... and how would it be affecting the gas mileage?

The O2 sensor screwes directly into your headers. I have an 84 and it's on the passenger side. It almost looks like a spark plug with a couple of wires coming out of it. The engine runs offf a computer which tells the carb when to run richer or leaner. The computer has to know how much oxygen (O2) is in the exaust to run the engine properly and most fuel efficient. That's why your gas mileage sucks if that sensor is malfunctioning.
