    slack in steering

My blazer has alot of slack in the steering, I know I need a new box ,but isn't there some kind of adjustment on the steering box itself, and if so how do you do it?

my wheel had a lot of play and then my bro took it all apart for me and found that the only thing holding the steering in place was the little plastic safety clip. no clue how i didn't lose steering completely. i was driving back and forth from school to home every 3 weeks (350 miles, a good 90 mph on the highway) i've been told i should have died in that truck with how the steering was.

i say just replace the box if you know you need a new one, losing control and possibly losing the truck, or more, would suck.

if you didn't build it with your own two hands, its not really yours.

theres an allen screw with a lock nut on the top side of the box.
it doesnt really take the slack out of the box. it just makes it stiffer to turn.

im almost 100% sure you can do it...

i bought a box off ebay that was from an 83' (?) or so. in the add it said that it will fit any 1st gen s-series trucks/SUVs but i havent got a chance to throw it in. i know some one on here has done it (probly way more then one) and im sure they know what years and everything you need to know. dont hold me on this but i think its a direct bolt up but you have to keep the original pitman arm.

what you want is a gear box for an iroc z camaro, its the same exact box as what comes in the zq8's and extreme

    its a quick ratio box

True, I opted for the Zq8 box though because of less milededge on it..
