I'm not real sure about this, but I dont think that the factory 5 speeds that come with the 4.3L engines will mate up to a small block.. I could be wrong on this though, I just am thinking that I read that somewhere...?

While killing over 100,000 Turks in 1098, the Christians "did no other harm to the women found in [the enemy's] tents - save that they ran their lances through their bellies," according to Christian chronicler Fulcher of Chartres.

itll work. you just got to get all the clutch assembly, I think you gotta get a different drive shaft too. but to be honest i would do it all at once makes for a smoother process.

Find yourself a New venture 3500 from like a 91+ s-series. That 5 speed is the same size as your current tranny. You should be able to use the same driveshaft, and the same tranny mount. Just get all the pedals(brake is different for a manual truck), clutch slave/master cylinder, etc. That tranny will fit and should hold up to a mild v8 too.
