looking to kick the blazer in the butt

Ok so my blazer is no longer a pet project in the making, its a daily driver. I want to give it a little kick in the ass though. I don't need anything insane. I don't need to throw down numbers like a V8 would, I just want it to have a little more spring its step.
I have the CPI 4.3 Liter Vortech (1994 VIN code W)

I also don't want to sacrifice gas mileage if I can avoid it. Just a better throttle response is all I want.
I've thought about Super Chargers, turbo setups, nitrous, but ...
the only idea I've liked so far is a Super, but I can't find one that is pre manufactured and ducted correctly for a CPI.

    Any suggestions?

Letting it breathe better will give you more response. Give it a good exhaust and headers then go from there. Plus it wouldn't hurt to upgrade the intake. Is emissions going to be a problem?

He probably means getting the plate to put over your EGR. I am not exactly sure how this will affect your computer. But get a new exhaust, lose the cats. Headers will go good too. New intake, get a chip. Then from there you can start changing your internals. Then change your gears from there and a shift kit.

Actually it just restricts it, it doesn't block off the egr (never fully block off the egr :) )

anyone have a chip in a 1994 CPI?
what kind of power difference/mileage difference do you see?
    what kind of program?
    what brand of chip?

sorry I'm asking 900 questions, but I'd like to get something that someone else has tried, and had reliable... since it is a daily driver, and I have next to no time to putz around under the hood.

Breathing is the key here. The better an engine breathes the more effecient it will be....more power produced and use the least amount of feul.

Open your intake, get a K+N cold air intake tube and air filter or copy company.... easily obtained on ebay.

Get a better flowing muffler.... many out there also on ebay.... flowmaster, dynaflow, magnaflow, gibson and others.

Also a good tuneup will help, all new parts, plugs, wires, dist cap and an oil change.
