i saw you explaining how you did this awhile back superbee..
i like this method of lowering a 4x4 alot...

im thinking about doing it, but i will be bagging the front soon anyways. and i dont feel like wasting 50 bucks on an alignment if i have to do it again.
    good job explaining everything too.

my truck got dropped a few days ago. i was only able to get new shocks for the back for now. im gonna order new shocks for the front today. i can turn fine with barely any rubbing at all. but in the front whenever i go over a bump it rubs. the top of the tire rubs on the fender well lip. my question is when i get the new shocks in, will that stop the rubbing when going over a bump?? or should i raise the front up alittle??

yeah, i notched the rear a couple weeks ago, FINALLY. Its rides great now.

What do you mean 10 spot?

BigL013, if those shocks are stiff, it might stop it from hitting. It wont raise it up though, shocks dont carry weight.

How did you lower the rear? im trying to understand what you did. You drilled that hole and then took the block out and let the key rest onto of that bolt correct? With 20s and a 3/3, i still have a 3 inch gap between the fenders and tires with 255/35/20 and i hate it. can i pull a leaf for the rear?

yes you can pull a leaf, the ride wont be much different from drop leafs so go ahead if you want to save the money. What I did is get the 3in belltech leafs and 2in blocks and the got the C-notch for a better ride. Oh yeah, and traction bars to help stiffen the weak ass springs up.

can you help me on the front again? I looked at my keys and i didn't lower them all the way. OOPS...(it was starting to snow when i finished the rear and did the front) so it sits alittle lower and its riding on the bump stops. Im going to go see if i can take them out now.

ye superbee, i thought i would give the front lowring project you suggested a shot, i lowered the truck successfully and drove it over to the mechanics for an alignment, he said that grade 8 bolts are not designed for that shearing stress and may cause it to break, and he also pointed out to me that i had absolutely no tension in the front

i agree with you super, but then again i think about the safety issue. last thing i want to happen is going 60 around a corner and having the bolt break. also i could possibly replace the grade 8 bolt with a threaded tractor pin, i think those are meant to hold up against shearing stress

dont worry bro, that grade 8 bolt is plenty strong.
