    Rear End Width

    Hey if anyone has this info please help me out??
    - stock 2wd s-10
    - explorer 8.8 drum brake
    - explorer 8.8 disk brake
    Also do 2wd and 4wd drive explorers have the same width rear ends?

    Also, I went out and measured my rear end in my 2WD. Its 48" from the inside of the backing plates. I don't know what width your is, I would have to measure it and tell you.

    Well since youve obviosly done ur reasearch and you a well know member of the site maybe you should do a permanant post listing all the specs mentioned,,,, im sure people would be very happy if you did this..

    all the s-series measurements are correct, im gonna try and make it to the junkyard this weekend...if im not to drunk, and ill get some measuremnets

    to be honest, ive never seen a complete 2wd rear end or a disc rear end, i may be able to get some info from one of the local ford guys, seeing as how the local ford plant makes exploders

    Are these supposed to be inside or outside? I always measure the inside distance between backing plates.

    backing plate measuremnts can be deceiving, since not all rear ends have drums that are the same width

    all the current measurements are from mounting surface to mounting surface

    True. Probably is more accurate now that I think about it.
