cool looking project, chevy did the same thing in the 57 chevy bel'air, my grandpa has many funny gas station stories about that car.

I have one safety concern, Gasoline fumes are more explosive than gasoline itself so whenever anyone is welding or cutting near a gas tank fill it full first, don't weld or cut the tank directly, if you have to remove the filler hose don't use a rag to plug it(or you'll have a vehicle sized molotov cocktail when it catches fire) insted use a old leather glove or something flame resistant.

If possible the safest route would be to take the tank off and put it out of the way of any sparks or flame.

After all we all want to see the projects finished

since you have to replace the filler hose, when you remove the hose you just cap it off at the tank. then you are good to go

your hose size sounds really small. what did you do that you had to run such a small hose?

That was my hose size 1 and 1/8. So I just ran a 1 inch size hose and it worked fine.

I have a 2004. My stock hose is 1 1/8. My hose hooks to the filler neck and it's a narrow neck alright. So I used 1in or 1 1/4 to and heated it up to work
