The 8.5's from those s-10's only had 3.08 gears, but also came with a locker. An easy way to tell is the axle tubes bulge out right before they go into the pumkin. They should also have the 3rd shock(horizontal shock) mount on the passenger side tube. All the 8.5's Ive seen have had them, but I'm not positive that they came standard with them.

if u buy slicks though, every time u get there, then u wanna go home, u gotta change the tires, and after a while that gets old, plus then all the shit ya brought with ya will be sittin in a pile somewhere until you're done, i've seen ppl tear out everything and just leave it there, cd's and shit, easy steal, easiest thing would be to get some drag radials

I think a good, wide set of BFG drag radials would to it. Like a 275/50 and up. If I run them, Im gonna use those, cause I dont' want a tire taller than 26" right now. I don't think they will hold up to 2500-3000 rpm launches, but i hear they're pretty good. They feel pretty sticky, I always check them out when Im out at the Summit showroom.

So far I found one 8.5" w/ posi and 4.10 gears for $725. If I don't get a better price by the end of the day I'm getting it. Good Price????

Yeah sounds pretty good. All the ones' Iv'e been quoted have been 500, stock. As long as its got quality gears in it, and the factory locker was retained, its a deal. You are gonna have to cut the shaft when you install it though.

That's ok I already shortened the stock one once. I am going to get one made for it. I also am going to put in a drive shaft hoop.

Question on the loop, where does it mount? Does it mount to the frame or the floor pan?

The universal ones I'm looking at bolt to the frame. All you need to do is drill like 2 or 4 holes on each side and bolt it on. I just hope my exhaust isn't in the way.

Thats what I though. A guy I was talking to the other day had his mounted to the bottom of the cab. I figure if it came out hard, it'd rip out of the cab.
