    '89 4.3l = '96 4.3l?

are the engine blocks the same from a non vortec 89 4.3, to a 96 vortec? isnt the "vortec" just the heads? the reason why i ask is i can get a block for free, and the heads from the block. and i was gonig to get it all cleaned up and bored out a little and get it all rebuilt so i can put it into my blazer after i BD it. i plan on changin from the fuel injection setup to a carbed 4.3, just to clean the engine bay of a cluster fuck of wires.

if your gonna go with the carbed 4.3 to clean up the look why not go wiht carbed v8 for a little bit more...a lot cheaper to build IMO and more available options...something to think about...

i have a 350 block, bottom end, and a 700R4, but thats it. i need everything for it. the 4.3, i can use alot of the stuff i already have... AND when i body drop my truck, a 4.3 doesnt interfere with the fire wall much, a 350 i will basically have to rebuild the WHOLE firewall. which i do not want to do.

    Ahhhh, I see the connection...:finger:
Well if you really want an answer, No the blocks are not the same, and I'm not sure on the heads, but I don't think you can bolt them on an older block.

if someone wants to donate to the "Nick needs a 350 in his blazer" fund, and pay for my 350, then i'd sure as hell put it in. but as of right now, its not happening.

Performance first cosmetics later, you can sell that 4.3 and get all the parts you need for the 350, and why would you have to modify the firewall?

The heads are the same bolt pattern and im not sure why the actual blocks would be different. they are both 90degree v6's basically the same animal as the stock motor. different top end is all.

the 96 block has a balanced shaft and the main webbing around the crank main caps have less "meat"
