    some 88's had 305. mine is a 88 and it has a 305

    if the 8th number in the vin is an 8 then it is a 350, if it is a t-top car then chances are it's not a 350.

    wow thats the biggest bunch of bullshit i've heard yet, it is true Syclone that trans ams with t-tops weren't 350's when equipped with 5 speeds. GTA's without T-topps were always a 305 for some odd reason. but i've never seen or heard a correllation between t-tops and engines.

    Also 02S10350, the 305Tpi was used in Trans am's and Z28's all the way through 92 FYI and could be had with a manual transmission. and auto was your only option with a 350.

    and your positive on that because i got a 89 GTA with t-tops and 5 speed and 350tpi all original with 18000 miles in my drive way and im the second owner and i bought it off my uncle so i would be checking your info again because i got one in my driveway

    Ive helped swap some 2wds so a 4x4 shouldnt be much more difficult, too bad its not a 2wd though because I have all the swap stuff laying around here lol...but whenever you go to do it Ill help out, Im sure some more STL guys will help out too. Also check out STL-SSERIES.com

    actually a 4x4 has less choices since the engine position is fixed.


    just get the oil pan DIY instructions or buy one done

    post pic of the driverside bellhousing flange that must say 5.7 L98, until i see it im calling BS no way GM would ever but a t-5 behind a TPI 350, they scatter behind a mild 305.

    the driverside bellhousing flange is nearly impossible to see. post Pics of the Vin number and get to pulling that engine, then we'll see the truth shot.

    :( sorry guys i thought i was dead set on it was all original but talked to my uncle this morning and when he bought it in 89 the first thing he did was put a 5 speed in it... now im kind of pissed because i thought it was something totally rare

    ANYONE WANT A 89 GTA that has no motor or tranny

    im so f*&%&^ pissed at my uncle right now i feel like an a$$ for not beliving you guys now i finally learned my lesson the only way i found out was i ran the vin last night on the net
    it was a 89 gta with t tops with a L98 automatic with 2.70 rear gears posi

    a L98 with t tops is still pretty rare from what i have read, but I'd still like to see pics. I like the third gens a little better than my truck lol
