there was a 5.3 trans for 450 that had high miles. there was a engine for 350 with 80k. some dont charge that much for harness. you might have to spend 1200 for the engine, trans, harness and computer. then there other stuff you might need. if you use the vette accessories and you want a/c then you will have to notch the frame so the a/c will fit. if you have a blazer and you use the ls2 oil pan there is little to no notching the cross memeber. i have been debating on wether to use a 5.3 or do a 6.0. the 5.3 is cheaper b/c there are a dime a dozen.

Funny little story... I found a local junk yard through car-part.com that had 2 zq8 steering boxes. When I went there, nobody even knew what zq8 was. Thanks for trying to help, but Id rather stay away from car-part.

I think Im going to go with lt1.

I know a local jy has one for 1500. I could prob find one for 1k and then try to reuse my tranny to save a few bucks.

I think Im gonna stay with the 4.3 after all for now. I really dont have the knowledge, time, place, and funds to do the swap right now being a college student and paying for everything myself. And my friend mechanic quoted me about 3k for the engine + install for a used stock lt1. Not bad but at the same time Id rather do it myself.

So I think for now Ill do some more bolt ons on the 4.3 and see what I can get out of it. I think if it runs low to mid 9s (on 1/8) ill be happy for now and that should be enough to surprize lots of people. Many said that my truck was pretty quick when I was running low 10s.

So the plans for now are a set of headers, vette servo, shift kit, cut out, new mufler (tired of my flow), some drag redials, and maybe a cam later on. Prob gonna have my mechanic buddy try to mess with the computer and see what he can get out of it as well. Any other mods you guys think would be worth considering?

Just put efan out of ls1 camaro in a day before I went to the strip. As far as rear end goes I have 3.42. Dont really want to go higher than 3.73. Prob wont make too much difference w/ the power blazer makes so that can wait.

Havnt heard lots of positive things about under drive pullies...

    Whats dynomax sound like?
I was thinking of magnaflow. Want something quieter than flows... Thats why I want a cut out, so I can open it up when Im ready to have some fun. Its only $25.

On a side note, anybody wants to buy my current catback?
