    stock heads

I went to the junkyard today and found a 90 s10 with a 4.3 non vortec, it has 253k miles on it. I took the valve cover off and found no sludge on the heads. He wants 100.00 bucks for both heads if i take em off. You think thats a deal? Im going to take them to a shop and have a valve job and put trur roller rockers in em....Think that is a deal:boink:

Why not just have a valve job done to yours? They will clean the sludge whenever they dip them or how ever they clean them up. But 100 bucks on junkyard heads seems high with that many miles. If yours on there now aren't cracked or anything the junk yard heads are the same used and worn out ones as your trucks.

Agreed. I see no reason to spend the money on an extra set of heads. Your spending the money for what reason?

Also, why are you worried bout that "sludge" in the heads? If the heads are like that, the rest of bottom end will be too.
