Drop Question with V8 motor - V8 Bug Project

    Hey guys,

I've got a project car I'm working on and have a few questions. The project basically is a V8 bug. In a nut shell, I'm taking a 73' VW super beetle body and mounting it on a modified 91' S10 Blazer (2wd, 2dr, 4cyl) chassis with a SBC 283.

I'm wanting to drop the front suspension 4-5". With 2" dropped spindles and a V8 up front, will it have the 4-5" drop with the extra weight?

If not, has anyone made custom lowering control arms by cutting the stock bottom spring support out, cutting x" off of some round steel pipe and welded it back together?

Use a quality set of drop springs. The weight of a V8 isnt much different from a 4.3. With new springs, the v8 will drop the truck maybe 1/2 at most.

I would not try to modify the lower control arms. Your basically making them into a drop arm. Do not use those, along with drop spindles. If you had to pick between the 2, use drop spindles.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm going to try the dropped spindles and if I need a bigger drop I'll add dropped springs and shocks.
