    01 Blazer Xtreme rear windows

Hey new to the forums here, I live near tampa, florida and I just recently got a 01 blazer xtreme with not much work done to it. Couple things I have problems with is rust right at the rear brake light assembly on the top of the truck. Also, the black plastic around the rear side windows on both sides the paint has worn off and needs to be replaced or something. Anyone have any ideas on how hard these 2 items would be to replace or repair? And any ideas on both would be awsome. Thanks alot.

i have the same truck and the same problems. the rust, just head to you favorite body shop and they will grind it out or cut and replace that panel. the window trim, is only availible with the glass, and is not cheap. your best bet is again the body shop. they can smooth out the plastic with filler and paint it and it will look good as new, if not better.

thanks for the response, im thinking about doing just that. Anything you can tell me about the vehicle that i might need to know? I already had to replace the fuel pump, could barely crank the thing. Also check engine light stays on now even after I have the local mechanice reset it . :( And the middle lights on front of grille the long thin ones are full of water..

the lower intake gasket will probly start leaking coolant, the oil cooler lines will seap, the checkengine light is most likely your A.I.R. pump (smog) it up under the radiator. great place for an electric pump. it at least $180-250 for the part and 20 mins to install. its just fine with out it as long as you dont need to pass emitions test. as for the lights just replace them. hit the junk yard

Hi, fellow Tampa-Area X-Blazer Owner. The above post is pretty spot on, you can fill out the black plastic w/ filler and paint it, when I repainted my truck I painted it the same color as the body, looks really good! Here's a pic of the results.

Also, the gasket leaking is an issue w/ mine as well, Mine's slow and haven't got around to fixing it yet, Just have to top of the reservoir every month or so. Good luck w/ the truck and hope to see you around the area sometime!

Also, of course that is a black truck ^^^ but Ive seen that gasket painted black like stock or color matched to whatever color. Black is a little more sleek but on white/red/whatever color it looks pretty good to color match it...

Ahhh very nice man thanks alot. i cant wait to get mine painted so that its nice and clean like yours. Mine is currently black also but the blazer x is red. I just spent to much in the last couple days on speakers and subs and amps so i figure ill resave and get it painted. Also, i see you dont have rust in front of the rear brake light up top. i hope to get that resolved soon also.

i painted my wife's window trim with weather strip/bumper paint and it looked stock, i didn't use filler and the areas that needed it the paint has started to flake off, it lasted a year, but now i get to redo it

i painted mine and they were bad. i used a good 2 part primer with the rite aheasten promoter(sp) and then base/clear. they have held up for 3 years now with no problems

and on some colors i would not match the body color. i have seen a white blazer with white trim and it looks like poop...thats my 2cents

    before..

    and now
