Widest tire that will fit my 03 Blazer

I have an 03 Blazer Xtreme and the stock tires are 235/60R16....What is the widest size tire I can put on the stock chevy rims. will a 245 or even a 255 fit?

I have seen as wide as a 265 on an 8" wide rim but you could tell it was too wide. I wouldnt go wider than 255.

A 50 series tire is the height of the tire not the width. The first number is a 3 digit number and that is the width in millimeters. The second number is a 2 digit number and that is the percent of the width for the height of the sidewall. For instance a 205 50 15 is 8" wide 4" side wall on a 15" rim.

the width of tire that you can safely run on a rim depends somewhat on the sidewall profile of the tire also. As Slow Ride says he runs 315's on an 8" rim but as you go down in aspect ratio of your sidewall to the width of tire it becomes impossible to mount and more over to keep it on the rim. That 60% profile gives the tire sidewall room to flare out and allow you to run a 315 or 295's such as I do. Do not try this with anything less than a 50 series aspect ratio and you are pushing it with a 50.

    yeah exactly right.

Im running a 275/40 series and to me that looks about the widest rubber that you could sneak on a 40 for an 8 inch rim, its already starting to loose some contact pattern at that wide and obviously if your loosing contact patch on the road then there is no point in going wider.
