    rear axle help

    hey im new to this forum, but have a 98 envoy with lsd, i need to remove the rear driver side axle to replace (gf curb smscked it) can anyone tell me how to remove it?

    grab a Hanes or Chiltens manual....

    Basically (with rear jacked up) remove rear wheels and brake drums/rotors. then you need to remove the rear diff cover (make sure you have a catch pan under to get the fluid that will spill out) then you will see a bolt that holds in the center "pin", undo this bolt and carefully remove the center pin. slide the axle in a bit that needs to be removed and remove the c-clip that holds the axle in and pull out axle carefully not to disturb the gears. then re-install axle and replace diff gasket. on the front side of the rear end there is a square plug that needs to be removed to refill the rear with fluid. Fill until fluid spills out of hole
