You can get a rear out of a 98+ blazer with discs.......if you find a 4.3 5sp those have a 8.5 rear which would be good for a 350.....or get a 7.5 and build it up.....either one is a direct bolt in with discs

It doesn't have to be a 2wd rearend, but be aware that the 4wd pushes the tires out a little since the backspacing on the 4wd rims are different. If your 2wd tires tuck now, they won't once you install the 4wd rearend.

I ran a 7.5 G80 in a '79 Malibu with built 454 auto and had absolutely no trouble with it. It was a DD and it hit the strip a couple of times with drag radials. If your Blazer is a DD and not a dedicated race car I would just get on ebay and buy a good G80, detroit locker, or my favorite a powertrax locker and be done with it.

had various rear ends over the years. stock S10, 10 bolt, 12 bolt, auburn & moroso & factory posi's. Addded external bridges, cast covers with cap preload, billet caps and studs.

    broke them all

Currently trying a 8.5 from a 4wd and just living with the extra width in the limo truck. Vehicle is mainly used for towing so it never really sees any abrupt shocks like a stick or drag vehicle.

Ford 9"s survive just about anything but are more expensive. I still have outer bearings issues about every 2 years. Doesn't matter whether Moser, Suncoast or myself narrowed the housing. Didn't matter whether it was old style or new style bearings.

8.8 from an Explorer is probably the best value swap, particularly if you want rear disks. Superbee did one and I think posted a thread.
