    V8 swap manual trans

Im looking to put a manual trans in my blazer. What tans is my best option and is ideal for 370 hp? I'm pretty sure a 5spd would be best since I want it to be decent on the highways. T5, nv3500? Lol suggestions needed!

the only factory trans worth anything with that kind of power would be a t56, you could also look into the tko series of aftermarket transmission.

What he said. Putting it behind a Gen I or II V8 is similar to the 4.3. I have some of the parts I gathered to put an LS1 bellhousing T56 behind my 4.3 still... haha

If you really want a 5 speed I'd upgrade to a NV4500, but it still won't likely be strong enough for 370 hp driven hard.

what exaclty do i need for the t56 swap? lt1 bellhousing will work right? starter? flywheel? will my stock driveshaft have the correct number of splines? will a 1st or 2nd gen clutch master work?

any and all info would be great! lol

i disagree with the nv4500. its a good big truck transmission but its a horrible choice for an s-series. a better choice would be an aftermarket TKO transmission

it all depends on what style transmission you can find. The LT1 style trans is an easier swap but the parts are harder to find. An Lsx based trans is easier to find but a bit harder to swap in.

If i had to do a t56 swap all over again i would find an M12 from a gto and swap that bitch in.

you need an adapter plate that fits between the block and the bellhousing

Wasn't too bad to make the adaptor, but now it is sitting around gathering dust.

There is an adapter plate made to mount a LS or Viper T56 to T5 and Muncie bellhousings that I believe was made by GM. I can't find any proof right now, but it came with their 'aftermarket' T56 they sell to swap into 3rd gen Camaros with T5s.
