there are different ways about going around it one is if you have your ecm reworked like i did by wait4me tune they can turn them off and still pass inspection, there are some e-bay kits out ere that exstands the sensor to fool it, some say they never get a light or here is a link on how to build your own Sensor Simulator.... http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/oxy...sor_simulator/

its not going to melt, you know how hot that tube would be to melt the plastic? if it were touching yes, but if you have an air gap it would be hard

I know that a bunch of Subie and Evo guys run a piece of carbon fiber above the exhaust on their cars, granted that is b/c they shoot flames out when they shift. Might not be a bad idea to do a 1/2" trim ring of carbon fiber around the exhaust tip, this will help if your tip moves any it will not melt your kit. I dont think that it would look half bad like that either. Maybe a slash cut tip over a circle if you are doing it on the side over the rear.

you could hold a torch to your plastic molding for a second just like a flame from a backfire would do (which these trucks wont do btw) and still not harm the paint or plastic.

not completely true on the backfire.......the wife's xtreme had a small backfire the other day when I floored it and let off do to a slow ass in front of me.......could also be the fact she doesn't floor the xtreme ever too

the cat smelled bad after too, might be time for a new one

I have a box of 10 carbon fiber round tips in the garage, slant cut

I think they put the carbon fiber there so they don't see the black carbon build up

ok let me rephrase that, your not gonna get a fireball out the back. You can hear a stock multiport 4.3 backfire almost everytime you tap the gas and let off in neutral, but with all the exhaust restrictors you barely hear it and dont see the flame.

I can shoot some nice flames out of mine with only a foot or two pipe off the collectors but with an average amount of tubing on it, it cant get enough air back in the pipe to mix with the fuel to make an explosion. Need the right mixture and exhaust combo.

I was really suprised when I heard it

I was able to get a small blue flame out of my 2.8 when I had no cat, glass pack muffler and a straight pipe out the back
