How do I determine if movement/slack on my right wheel is being caused by a wheel bearing or ball joint(s)?

I was originally convinced it was the right side upper ball joint but now that is in question...

Everything I found pointed to the same procedure for checking both?

"jack up vehicle grab the wheel at 6 and 12, if there is play, you have a bad wheel bearing"

"jack up vehicle grab the wheel at 6 and 12, if there is play, you have a bad ball joint"


Determining which is the direct cause is where I am stuck.:confused:
