Sweet I just found a local Guy that hordes full-size trucks. Has a 5.3 sitting in the garage, said he sold a 6.0 with two bad rods for $300 a couple weeks ago.

Make a decision on the oil pan? I've found I can drop my H3 pan about an inch before it drops below the cross-member and I still have clearance above the cross-member. About an inch there IIRC. I've been working on making my own mounts, specifically for the Blazer, to drop it down.

The major difference between the Blazer frames and S10 frames is they moved the suspension and cross-member down about an inch and a half and then added the engine towers to raise the engine back up, keeping the same relationship between the engine and body. With that in mind you can drop the engine down that 1.5" and still have the same clearance as the S10, but with the H3 pan you'll be hanging below the cross member then just like the S10.

I will most likely use the h3 pan, great price and clearance. If I have a few spare bucks I might get the holley pan. I was supposed to get the motor to the machine shop yesterday, but work has kept me from it. I might pull the 4.3 and tranny and sell them before the motor goes to cover some costs. I will use the blazer engine perches because I have the cpw longtube headers. I dont think the steering shaft will clear with out the mount perches.

I am still collecting parts and waiting paitiently for my motor. Right now the whole dash is out and the firewall is bare. I need to paint the engine firewall (thinking flat or satin black), install a new heater core, and pickup a hydroboost for the brakes.

Below is a running price list of all the major components I have. I am going to use the extisting trans crossmember and need to get the trans, cpw harness, cpw radiator and a/c set up. So about another 3 to 4g's to finish. Should be my 'pièce de résistance' and well worth the money and time!

Recap on prices added more goodies

    $975 LQ9 SHIPPED
    -$100 SOLD PISTONS W/OUT RODS
    -$150 SOLD 317 HEADS
    -$ 50 SOLD OIL PAN
    -$ 50 SOLD INTAKE MANIFOLD
    -$ 20 SOLD ROCKERS

after selling off parts not used I paid about $600 for the short block shipped to my door. Not bad, there are better deals out there.

    $350 L92 HEADS
    $ 25 INTAKE VALVES
$ 60 FULLSET OF LSA HEAD VALVES SPRINGS, RETAINERS & LOCKS (MAYBE 100 MILES)
$ 60 SET OF Z06 SPRINGS (NEW) W RETAINERS AND SEALS
-$ 20 SOLD THE LSA VALVE SPRINGS AND RETAINERS

around $470 for L92 heads with new seals springs and damn near new valves

    $200 02-04 NEW Z06 CAMSHAFT
    $130 LS7 LIFTERS

right around $1400 for what I have now.

New stuff added, The budget build goes up slightly!

    $61 new corvette balancer (autopartstomorrow.com)
$900 set of Jareds long tube headers
$350 cpw mounts and oil pan kit all from CPW
$70 summit racing twist lock hose 15ft and 8- 6an hose fittings
$135 8 new russell fuel connects and an adapter for the vette filter
$23 vette filter wixx 33737, got lucky on ebay!
$100 misc lubes, gaskets and fastners
$170 racetronixs pump and wire kit (great score on ls1tech)

$ 61 Corvette alternator/ powersteering pump bracket (ebay score)
$345 LS3 intake w/ injectors, rail, valley cover, tensioner, misc. lines and hoses. (another ebay score)

    total now is $3600ish

I got the fuel filter and reg installed. along with cutting and installing the twist tite lines. It was kind of a bitch because I did not want to mount the vette reg to far forward. As it sits, there will be issues with the stock trans cross member. I am going to take a piece of flat bar, 1/8" and fold it in to an L, this way the vette reg/ filter is bolted to the frame, but a little higher so the trans member will install. I got 15" of line and enought fittings to run the fuel line to the intake and for the eval line to the intake.

the new russell fuel fittings are awsome!

I couldn't wait for a hoist and put the pan and mounts on my spare block. Got it put in quickly. The aluminum block is easy to move around. Once I get a hoist I will attach the trans and see if I need to trim the ac cover. Here is a few shots.

Looks good man. Did you wind up getting the H3 pan? Looks like there's a decent amount of clearance there...

That is the h3 pan. It has a load of clearance. I took the block today to paint the firewall. Also removed the brake booster to make room for the hydroboost unit. I want to relocate the battery, but I think my only option is the inside rear. I made a box the size of the optima I want to use, but its to tight behind the right rear wheel.

Right on. It seems that these LS motors just eat up every ounce of usable space in the engine bay..lol. Totally worth it though.

For the fuel filter/regulator, you should be able to just replace your stock filter with the vette part. It both filters and regulates in the same part. That will help your packaging problems significantly.
