    drivetrain flex???

i just got a new 4.3 short block, and had it rebuilt, the problem is that my original block had a "torque brace" ??? that went from the bell housing to the side of the block, well my new block doesn't have the bolt hole for that brace so i just left it off, well under any kind of hard acceleration i can feel like a popping from underneath my seat...im not sure if its related to that brace or not, ive got new motor, and trans mounts...i plan on getting poly engine, and trans mounts to see if it helps at all, but do i need that brace? is there something else i could do to help stop the flexing, the motor flexes about an inch with it in gear, and giving it gas with the foot on the brake...im not sure if that the problem or not, so i figured i would ask you guys before i spent any money....btw...its cammed, and has a small stall if that matters...TIA

motor and trans bolted together are plenty strong... sounds like maybe you exhaust is hittign the floor or somethign else when the motor torques. motor should move some when its under torque, a inch sounds somewhat reasonable...

I'm with Martin...an inch is about normal. If you hear popping under the seat, check either the exhaust, or the trans crossmember mount, make sure it's tight, as it runs pretty much right under the front seats...

Figured it out....my y pipe is hitting the floor when the motor torque...the pop runs right between the trans crossmember, and the floor...hmmm....don't know what to do about that...not much room there, and really don't want to run it under the crossmember either, any suggestion would be appreciated
