what would cause a sub to do this....

i have a jl 15" dual voice coil that i have had hooked up in my tahoe for 2+ years.. all the sudden it stopped working... Amp works and all. so i decide to pull the sub out of the box.. I find that one of the wires on the sub that goes from the terminal to the voice coil is frayed and broken in the middle.. This being said i soldered a new wire in between and it worked great for about two weeks, then again it did it again...

what the hell would be causing this???? Amp never goes into protect mode, never changed any wiring and such since i installed it 2 years or so ago.. i dont get it.... any clue whats up?

The lead wire broke and you fixed it, then broke again? Or did the repair hold but the speaker stop working for some other reason?

If the lead broke, you might try using the same type of wire they used originally.
Here is a lead wire repair kit if you want to try again: http://www.simplyspeakers.com/speake...kit-lwk-1.html

If it is some other problem I don't know off top of my head.

if it frayed its usually due to too much distortion or clipping
