To get the upper arm loose from the spindle do this:
loosen the upper bolt on the arm but don't take the nut off, leave it threaded on a couple of threads. make sure the lower is still in tact and the bag is in place still. Put some air in the bag and use a BFH (Big f-ing hammer) to hit the top of the spindle where the ball joint is located.. A few good hits like that will knock the BJ loose. Keep it together and do the same to the bottom then let the air out of the bag and take the suspension apart.

This way works every time for me. If that doesn't work for some weird reason, go to the auto parts store and rent a ball joint separator. Its basically a 2 prong fork that you you put between the spindle and control arm and hammer it in until the BJ breaks loose. If you use it though you will need to replace the BJ bc it will rip the boot.

They have a ball joint tool at autoparts stores they rent it looks like a huge tuning fork. I just use a
Small slendge and hammer on the spindel till it comes lose.
X3 on getting spindels. Mine lays on a 18 without arms. I had to trim the frame around where the lower control arm bolts to the frame. I would get some spindels then see where you are binding.
