Thread: gonna start this now..... 350 inside?

    gonna start this now..... 350 inside?

    so im reading thru the links. just found a 350 for a good price. its a FI motor but it will be converted to carb and dropped in the blazer. lookin like ill have it home in 2 weeks and then on to buying parts. any tips would be great, and ill post any questions i have. pics soon-

    ok so iv been reading and im oretty comfortable with the motor swap. i do not hav the tranny yet and thats where im getting hung up. i can not find much info on running an auto tranny. their has to be some kind of wiring right? it has to know when to shift and what not. any one got links to info in that area that would be great

    most autos are cable or vacuum controlled for shifting, th350/400 are vacuum controlled with a cable kickdown, 700r4's, which i would definatley recommend, have a detent cable that attaches to the carb. i would stay away from electronic transmissions since your goin carbed, those are controlled by the computer that you wont have or you need a stand-alone controller which is expensive,

    i do not kno yet for sure. been super busy and behind with all the rain we have had. from what im told the 2.8 has a different angle than the standard v8. i should have time this weekend to get under it and get some info. ill report back when i know a little more

    2.8 transmission won't bolt to a v8. the my 894.3 has a 700r4 that will also my 02 has the 4l60e that will work. and th350 th400 will work.

    your 02 does have a 700r4.....it's just electronic and called a 4L60e

    2.8 is a 60* motor and 4.3 and all small blocks are 90* motors

    you can probably feel your shifts in the 700 complaired to the 4l60.....GM wanted to make the shifts so you couldn't feel them when they did the electronic trans.......bad for the trans, good for the cadi people

    Yea, but you can tune the shifts on the 4l60e to firm them up a lot.
