    Installed head unit today, custom made kit.......

    I decided to do a 1.5 DIN install today in the 2000 Blazer. I don't like the plastic kits, so I made one myself out of 1/2 MDF. Here's the pics:

    That came out pretty good. It would be nice to cover it with black vinyl. Did you paint it?

    Yeah, painted flat black. Thought about abs plastic, but didn't want to order a whole sheet. I got some tinted lexan 1/4 inch that would be perfect as far as thickness. Might do it in that now that I have a template.

    Why not just use a Metra kit 99-4544?

    It comes with all the brackets and the same abs plate you just made.

    I thought he made it pretty clear.


    Looks good man. I like that idea. I should do something similar to mount my double din better.
