Not from the factory. It should be a 700r4.Originally posted by packofqtips
my 92 has a 4l60e
They also called them 4L60, same exact thing. (NO "e")
The electronic shift trannies (4L60e) didn't hit the S-trucks until '93/'94

I keep mine nice and lubed with anti-sieze and it helps out alot...
My friend said I would probably need a new torque converter. Will I? What kind should i get on my low budget.
Get a new converter matched to your motor that you are putting in. Example if you are putting in a stock 350 get a converter for a stock 350 if it is a built 350 match it with the cam for the proper stall. In your case if your 4.3 is stock get a stock converter
I'm a black ninja motherfucker!
I'd like to instal amild 350 some day.
Common mods help me out. What kind of torque converter? Anything else I need to buy to install this 700r4 trans in a 93 that had a 4l60e?
A good quality high stall lockup converter is over $500
well thats as much as I'm paying for the trans. Can you suggest one that would be better than stock but only slightly more expensive?
Quick update guys I was driving home last night and my trans satarted some real shit. It would down shift while cruising about 58mph and then just slip like the tranny wasn't even there. I had to shift from drive to second just to keep moving so i could pullover. This sucks what can I do to keep this thing going till I can afford to install my rebuilt trans?
Sounds like the drive and overdrive clutches are burnt.Does the fluid on the dipstick smell burnt or look really dark? That is what happened to mine before I rebuilt it and there is no way to help it.Chances are it is toast and second gear is not too far from slipping either.sorry but I see a rebuild in your near future.

I've got a rebuilt trans waiting for me to get the cash to install it. The fluid isn't burnt it's a nice pink color. It does leave a dark residue on the paper towel though. Well shit I need to be rich.
