Want to learn how to wack those
bulky door handles off your S-10? Here's the basic steps you need to do to
achieve that custom look.
Step 1: Cut the old handle
out. Using a whizzer wheel, carefully cut around the door handle and lock, be
careful not to cut into the body line.
Step 2: Using a piece of
sheetmetal, place on the INSIDE of the door and tack weld around the cutout.
Use seam sealer on the inside to prevent water from getting between the cracks.
Step 3: Grind down the tach
welds to get it pretty smooth, then evenly apply body filler to the area.
Step 4: Sand the area
smooth, making sure the area remains smooth and maintain the factory curves in
the door. After the body filler, use spot putty to fill in small pinholes and
imperfections in the area.
Step 5: Prime and sand
again, you're ready for paint!
